Makaton Places: Learning from Organisations Putting Makaton into Practice

When:  May 20, 2026 from 18:00 to 19:00 (UTC)

Join us for a panel-style webinar focused on the real experiences of organisations taking part in Makaton Places through the Makaton Aware and Makaton Friendly programmes.

This session will feature guest speakers from successful Makaton Places and Makaton Friendly members who will share updates on their progress, how they introduced Makaton in their organisations, and how they continue to embed it into everyday practice.

This webinar will focus on real-life stories, practical learning and honest reflections from organisations at different stages of their Makaton journey.

In this session, you will:

  • Hear from Organisations Using Makaton in Practice: Learn directly from Makaton Aware and Makaton Friendly members about what they have achieved so far and how their use of Makaton has developed over time.
  • Explore Real Implementation Journeys: Understand how different organisations introduced Makaton, engaged their staff, and overcame common challenges.
  • Learn How Makaton is Maintained Day-to-Day: Discover how members sustain Makaton use across teams and keep it active in their settings, rather than treating it as a one-off initiative.
  • Gain Ideas for Your Own Organisation: Take away practical inspiration and realistic next steps for becoming part of Makaton Places.

This webinar is ideal for organisations who are considering joining Makaton Places, are newly registered as Makaton Aware or Makaton Friendly, or who want to learn from others already on this journey towards more inclusive communication.

This webinar will be recorded and stored in the Makaton Library and MakaChat Resources to rewatch shortly after the event.
